Well, I'm planning a little trip the first part of June with some fellow bikers and I have a question for you R3T owners. I haven't rode my bike in the rain (I don't care to either) but.....do the hard bags stay dry inside if you do a lot of riding in the rain? What is your experience with rainy weather?

Ditto

If you're concerned, doesn't take much to encase your wet-sensitive stuff in plastic. I do this sometimes anyway, because even though the cases are inherently dry, one cannot always choose when one must open a case, and the weather might not cooperate just at that given moment.

Yup...I had that in my plan depending on my feedback. Besides, one bag will be empty as it has all my rain gear in it.

The Bags are rain proof ,however as stated it's best to do a water proof wrap on things that you need to keep dry just in case, never had any problems even in torrential rain.

Based on several multi-hour runs in pouring rain (8 hours straight in Norway, plus an attempt at a Saddlesore where it rained at least half of the 24 hours) I'd say these are very reliable. The lid comes down over the sides, so any water coming from above flows off them. Sure, if you ride into a river, they'll fill up; if you spray water under pressure from below I'm sure they'll also take in water, but under normal riding conditions mine have stayed bone dry at all times. I was fortunate enough to manage to find liners for them from a now defunct company which makes packing a lot easier, and those liners should also be fairly water resistant so I don't bother wrapping anything, never felt the need.

Space Bag Travel Bags will ensure your whitey tighties stay dry and may allow you to pack enough so that you don't have to get a few days out of the same pair by turning them around, then inside out and finally swapping with your buddy.

Never had a drop in mine, I'm quite impressed with how water tight they are.......but if the lid pops open on your travel coffee mug inside....that's on you. Handed all my fuel receipts to the accountant with a nice brown tinge to them.

I've ridden through pouring rain, so much so that I was soaked head to toe through my rain gear ..... but the bags were bone dry.

Although I too once had my coffe leak, and yearh, that wasn't a fun clean-up lol.
