Theres about 3-5 inch gap between and only deflects the top 5 inches of outlet. ive put a lot of miles on with no problems. A lot of hot weather riding including desert a few times. Low and high speed. it reroutes the air, doesn't block it. nothing adverse has occured.
 
That's funny. I'm thinking of making something which would help heat my legs. I ride at freezing Temps often.
