Considering a 2020 Rocket 3 vs 2015

Hello,
Im looking to get back onto a Rocket 3, debating between getting the older generation or a new one. I had a 2017 a while ago and loved it!
Any recommendations?

I’d love to put a new engine into the original frame!
Now the reason, the wife and I went and looked at the new one. She took one look at the back seat, looked at me and said “Not a hope!”
She has a problem by having scoliosis of the spine, but the rear perch is so small, foot rests too high. From what I hear, in the rain the passenger get covered in crud.
But the performance is astounding, so stick the new motor into an older frame, jobs a good ‘un
But really it’s what you want.
 
i was offered a very good trade of mine for a new one and I was close to pulling the trigger. But love the old analog gauges I like that there are no riding modes and it doesn't have a tablet on it that spies on the owner also like that it still looks like a cruiser. I'm ok with the weight but really wish it had a 6th gear and cruise control.
 
I think that BunnyBurrell made a significant point regarding choice between the two bikes.

Aside from aesthetic preferences, I think the main choice factor should be about functionality.
How are you planning to use the bike?

Two up? Solo?........Big difference there. Two up. Luggage? Better consider the older model.
Do you want a bike that really handles in the twisties? Probably best go for the new model.
Straight line acceleration? New model will satisfy your right hand more. The older model can be made to compete by way of tuning, but it will never corner and stop as well as the newer model.
Does the weight of the bike give any practical concerns? If so, look toward the newer model. As well as being lighter, it also carries it's weight lower in the bike.
 
Those are good points, I only ride solo, but I do plan on taking long distance trips so throwing some bags on the back would be nice. I think the weight of the bike is something I would like to take into consideration. I think the newer one seems like the better option for what I would want (other than the price tag lol).
I do prefer the look of the older gen, so @Bunny Burrell idea of new engine on old frame would definitely be ideal haha
 
I went to a auction today to inspect a few bikes....There was a VERY nice 2020Triumph R3GT there that transfered owners @ $ 11,225 US Dollars.....so if you look closely....Deals can be had....
P.S. bike had a little over 3,000 miles....
