I think that BunnyBurrell made a significant point regarding choice between the two bikes.
Aside from aesthetic preferences, I think the main choice factor should be about functionality.
How are you planning to use the bike?
Two up? Solo?........Big difference there. Two up. Luggage? Better consider the older model.
Do you want a bike that really handles in the twisties? Probably best go for the new model.
Straight line acceleration? New model will satisfy your right hand more. The older model can be made to compete by way of tuning, but it will never corner and stop as well as the newer model.
Does the weight of the bike give any practical concerns? If so, look toward the newer model. As well as being lighter, it also carries it's weight lower in the bike.
