clutch slippage with non MC synthetic oil

I prev used regular mobil 1 in my st1100 and never had any clutch slippage with it. Has anybody tried to use ref Mobil1 in their rocket to see if they get any slippage or not??

the mobile 1 synth stuff works great...just expensive....

less likely to get slippage gong from synth to semi or regular......but


they recommend synth for a reason m8, the lubricative qualities are a bit better than reg, so ye might induce greater wear if ye use regular.



(think that's what ye were meaning, but there's many on here will know much more than me about this)

non motorcycle oils may have additives added to reduce friction , will affect motorcycle wet clutches

your the first person of all the experts that actually says they have witness clutch slippage from using improper oil

that is what i have been looking for not repeats of what the oil company and salesmen tell us

what type yamaha did your brother have that problem with?

If the oil says "energy conserving" it will have friction modifiers and may cause wet clutches to slip. I don't think any oil over 10w-30 has these additives so you should be safe. I used auto Mobil 1 10w-40 for 11 years on my Sprint with no problems and no wear.
