Close call yesterday...

Glad I went to the last RAA, if for no other reason I know what the "pizza" remark is about. Glad y'all are okay.

Glad you pulled it off ... stopping this monster like that always worries me, good job.

Close Call

Your darkside likely helped you to retain control and stop shorter. That's a strong reminder to maintain vigilence and not to rely as much on tail or turn lights. Glad that no harm came to either of you... or your bikes. Must be living right!

I can relate to that except it was a light rain and surface oil, slid sideways for three car lengths and stopped under the stop light on a four lane intersection talk about making legs limber

Sounds like the darkside really helped out. No doubt your experience helped. Glad to hear no injuries or damage.

Just wondering if you where using the front brake and how much front brake? You state that you kept pushing harder and harder is the reason I ask. I don't do it as much as I should either, but we all need to practice emergency stopping and using the front brake as much as possable.
Glad you got her shut down and was able to continue on safely. Something like that could ruin a guys day.

Big T

I don't know... maybe I wasn't applying the front breaks enough. I felt like I was at the time...

When I took the Total Control Clinic, they had us doing performance stops (yup, I took my Rocket to the clinic ). The trick with the front was to keep applying more and more pressure to the lever (gradually, of course). At the end, it should be almost touching the handlebar. It surprised me how much more I had to go after I thought I was braking at maximum. Given my own experience with that clinic, I can almost guarantee that you weren't breaking as hard as you could have been.

Glad to hear you were able to stop in time.

I had my own scare on Valentine's Day. I was riding up-country through Prescott and Jerome. I was powering through some hairpin curves with my girlfriend on the back when the rear started to slide (felt real mushy like a tar snake in a curve). I quickly dialed back the power before it slid out from under me.

My friend riding behind me said I was throwing up salt from my rear tire. It had evidently dried on the road surface and was not visible until my tire spun it off. That got my heart going!

glad u and amanda r alright i know from experence it aint no fun hitting a cage in the rear like wildwilly said i balso believe that the c/t helped u again glad u all r alright
