Clatter Bang...

Thanks for the replies Word from the workshop is that its stuck inbetween 2/3 gear The local dealership are picking it up to investigate at the cost of £56 an hour!! and they've never heard of any transmission problems on a Rocket....I reckon 25K shouldn't have put that much wear on 'box
 
Riding to work today Shifted from 3-4 Rattle grind clatter bang Back wheel locked up and it sounds like somebody chucked a bag of spanners in there... Anyone got any ideas...I'm guessing its going to be expensive ;(

I could see the drive shaft stripping off the splines and then not driving the wheel anymore, but can't see how that would lock up the rear wheel.
 

Never heard of any transition issues now thats funny their on something better then the Oxycontin I'm on and I Get to take a 10 mg pill of Valium with each dose
 
Many years ago, I had the same thing happen with a Yamaha XS11. There was no oil in the trasfer case! I have to wonder whether or not there was any lube in the rear end.
 
****. Doubt you'll find a buyer but maybe you'll be able to pick up a wreck that has a good one.
 
No joy...Anyone want to buy a Rocket with a busted gearbox...

Joolz that's a prick .. for what you'll get for it 'as is' .. you may well be better to try and find a written off RIII and rat the gearbox out of that. Up-side is they don't have to be too badly damaged to be written-off. You may be able to recoup some of the expense by selling off any undamaged parts.... did you find out exactly what went wrong with your gearbox ?

Well a Vulcan ain't a Rocket but at least you have something to ride, and it don't look too bad at all. Hope you have good luck with it mate.
