Billys right , getting the cat off makes the world of difference .

Think all rockets are the same power , but the classic is restricted on top speed :?:

i've got the 06 classic and have been running the tuneboy tunes for the standard r3 with no problems. spoke with tuneboy before hand and he told me to use these, that the engine is the same. i don't really understand why there is a selection of tuneboy tunes for the classic on his website.

Only reason Tuneboy has classic tunes listed is because Triumph separates them. Any Rocket tune will work on any Rocket so long as your performance upgrades fit the tune.

The guys are right in that it is the catbypass pipe giving the major boost difference. The TOR pipes are pretty much useless by themselves in both performance and noise making factors.

Be careful with upgrades though. Once you start on the path to performance upgrades it never ends... and yer wallet never stops bleeding either.

Here's my take: The tunes for a classic are the same, except they limit your max speed. Check out the power curve bands on all the tunes. Most start out near fun power to about 1500 rpm then drop into a valley , then back up to near top at about 6k rpm. Weird. One tune gives you full power in 4th and 5th. For the classic it's 20143 (one of the new sets of tunes which is described as full power, without catalyst. There is no full power tune for tors and w/o catalyst). I don't know which of the new tunes is the same ,yet for the standard R3.
In regards to no volumn/sound difference with tors vs stock: I find a huge difference. If you go just tors... it's a little louder. With cat replacement and stock pipes.... just a little louder. With both....much louder (weird).

Mike,

Originally, I went with the CAT bypass box and 2 TORs and 1 Standard pipe. The bike will run noticeably stronger. I know this sounds picky and it may not bother you but the TOR is shorter and the exhaust will have a larger diameter exit so you want to consider how you will set this up. Two TORS on the right would be the way I would go and then keep the stock on the left. You should take your time to see how the setup will look. The other issue you should consider and again I know this sounds like a small item, but this will create an out of balance sound. I quickly lost the Standard pipe and just kept the two TOR pipes on the right side. I capped off the port at the collector on the left side. It sounds great and runs quite nice. I don't think it is too loud but that is a personal issue.

Mike,

I forgot one thing. There is a triumph tune for CAT Bypass with TORs for the classic according to my dealer. They downloaded the new non classc tune, I think it was the 20149 for me. But when we were looking at the new tunes there was one for the classic with the same set up. It may have been 20144 or 20145. I hope i am remembering the tune info correctly.

To be honest, if I was starting again I don't think I would go for the TOR's, get rid of the cat, see how you like the sound of the bike and wait til you hear other pipes before spending your hard earned mate 8)
