Cheap Arse Clamps on the Exhaust how

That curse is deep and wide. We only have a few left and the curse will be over.

Back to the clamps....NONSALVAGEABLE....I was able to turn the broken bolt out of the clamp but it wrecks the threads on the clamp...

Now I am really worried about my CAT BOLTS if they snap off while trying to loosen them to get my CAT off I am FUB#D.

To any one that has pulled their cat off on an older classic did you have any troubles with snapping the bolts...I see three bracket holes on the bypass and I will need to move the grommets over....

I'll just CNC mill some new ones...

Scott....I am a Pharmaceutical Scientist not a mechanic..LOL..Dude I AM AN IDIOT with working on bikes...I stayed up to 3 am reading the manual thanks to @idk and found the pages around 405 to 410...

I am going to order 4 exhaust clamps for the TORS
1 Clamp for the Bypass.

All new gaskets 3 for the TORS and one for the Bypass.

The parts 26-29 on the exploded view diagram (the cat box bolt, washer, grommet, threaded flange etc)

And a s-load of M8x30 bolts.

My bike was stored in a shed by the ocean for 6 years before I bought it and any not SS bolt is RUSTED, FUSED and not coming out in one piece.

Besides Baxter who is the Biggest Online Dealer that stocks alot of these common parts?

I wish I had a half million dollar machine shop...but step drilling a 8 dollar clamp is not in my skill set. Need some Nitroglycerine made..can do that .

Besides Bike Bandit..what dealer/online part stocks the most Triumph parts....

I need to order about 100 dollars worth of clamps gaskets and bolts...

Thanks for all your time...what I need to find is a BIG TRIUMPH dealer that has the parts on hand and can get them to SC like .....yesterday.....

PS....Where can you find M8x30 bolts in SS at a hardware store...This is a SAE world!

Cheers...Greg

Ok so here is another idea for you 8mm bolt = .3149" 5/16 = .3125" 3/8 = .375" a 3/8-16 UNC has a tap drill of 5/16 a couple thousands smaller then the oem bolt. drill the buggered nut with a 5/16 drill bit removing the damaged threads and thread it with a 3/8 16 tap now your SAE and a little larger. I get my metric bolts along with SAE everywhere, Menards, Lowes, Ace Hardware but if I have a hard time finding them I check Fastenal.

On a side note you will have a new clamp from the cat delete to the header and gasket in the box.

I used all my old hardware on my 06 no living near a ocean though.

Before you pull your clamp bolts I would warm them up a but with a map torch and after then cool a bit apply some penetrating oil to them a couple times this expansion and contraction should free them up and allow the lubrication to work its way in. Also a little wire brush on the exposed threads works wonders before you start with the heat and lubrication.

As for dealer I would cal a few that have been around a while you might get lucky Indy Triumph, Baxters, Daytona Beach.

JUST buy some new clamps

JUST buy some new clamps

Who has the biggest inventory online of Triumph parts that can get these here fast...Bike Bandit says 10 days...Any mega sized Triumph dealers that have an online ordering system with the exploded view diagrams? Calmoto is 2700 miles from me...Looking for a big east coast online supplier...

Thanks!

Greg

PS...Scott...no warming or a gallon of Kroil is going to loosen those bolts..They have rusted so badly(zinc plated crap metal bolts) that 10-15 percent of the metal has turned to Iron Oxide....You would not get 1/4 turn on them before the head will snap right off...They are toqued to 22 NM so when they are hyper rusted and fused-they are not coming out in one piece. Here are the bolts after being soaked with Kroil..They look much worse when not soaked
