Smoked lens tint spray would do it once the lens was detached, however that is done. Maybe it requires heat to release, but there are threads/posts that cover that by @barbagris and @1olbull with red LED swaps in rear tail lamp. Search those topics with their names and 'voila' as @Plow Horse said... you get to use a can of this.
Yes there is an LED bulb installed in the light. 1157 LED Bulb w/ Stock Cover - Dual Function 36 SMD LED Tower - BAY15D Bulb

They were making or wanting multi LED units rather than just brighter LED replacement globes but under the stock lamp and hence requiring a new/modded plate under the reflector and its removal which would also allow the spray treatment before refitting.
Isn't the rear blub a 1157 ? If it is, why dismantle the lens ? Chris @barbagris is trying to design a LED array to fit within the OEM til light that would be FAR superior to any 1157 incandescent or to any 1157 fake LED bulb.
Sorry I did’t read that thread.
I was just stating that I put that LED into the light. Even with it being smoked it’s pretty darn bright. At least bright enough that I don’t feel like I’ve compromised my safety by changing from the stock tail light.
I have my rear and front turn signals smoked also. It looks great. I had thought about the brake/taillight done also because it looks so cool. I didn't due to the fact I'm a paranoid wimp and If I get rear ended I don't need their attorney having ammo and have them say he couldn't see my brake light due to the illegal tint on it. Hey, It's California, everything that's fun is illegal. I'm certain the cops have better things to do but those Ambulance chasers don't. I overthink everything.
