Cams, need mo power

Louis Armstrong:

“If you have to ask what jazz is, you'll never know.”

Red Hot Chili peppers:

"If you have to ask
You'll never know
Funky mother****er
Will not be told to go
If you have to ask
You'll never know
Funky mother****er
Will not be told to go (oh woh woh)

Don't ask me why
I'm flying so high
Mr Bubble meets superfly
In my third eye
Searching for a soul bride
She's my freakette
Soak it up inside
Deeper than a secret
Much more
Than meets the eye
To the funk
I fall into my new ride
My hand my hand
Magic on the blunt
Is a medicine man
Thinkin' of a few
Taboos that I ought to kill
Dancin' on their face
Like a stage in Vaudeville
I feel so good
Can't be understood
Booty of a hoodlum
Rockin' my red hood

If you have to ask
You'll never know
Funky mother****er
Will not be told to go
If you have to ask
You'll never know
Funky mother****er
Will not be told to go (oh woh woh)"

Ditto Snuff. I find it way cool to have a cruiser that outruns 95 per cent of everything on the road. I can't wait till I get the Lush cams installed. I'm thinking I will leave the Beast at Baxters at the end of the mid west launch and fly back home (on a plane). That way I can get the sloppy second repaired at the same time the cams are dropped in.

cant wait

I can't wait to be next to a $35,000 CVO Screamin Eagle whatever. Maybe when he stops to ask what just kicked his ass. I can let him in on our secret.what amazes me is your average, say, VStrom rider knows all about your R3T. Your average HD rider, no idea "Triumph makes big bikes too". My own brother, the 08 ultra bling machine, does'nt want to hear about it and is definitly afraid to ride with me.Maybe I won't learn till somebody kicks my ass!In the meantime I'll try to be humble.Hard when your the badest MFer in the Valley!! Please help me I need to slow the f*#k down!

Shtick, I’m with you … or at least I will be after you guinea pig them Lush cams. I tortured a Rocket Standard for a few years, but I now recline on a Rocket Touring. The fastest bike I every owned was a K1200S. I did 165mph on a desert stretch once and **** near pissed my pants. Speed ain’t my thing. It’s torque that tickles this kid’s Elmo. I miss the 240 on the back and the dual headlamps on the front, but everything in between just looked funky (to me). Don’t’ get me wrong, there are some gorgeous Standard R3’s out there, but only after undergoing some serious reconstructive surgery.

The way I look at it, I’d rather start with the R3T platform and buy back the power. And the tire rating doesn’t mean squat to me cuz I’m not looking for top-end speed. I want 40 to 100mph with a dumb-ass Gomer Pile smile.

Performance mods so far on my R3T: triple pod K&Ns, D&D slip-ons and Tuneboy with 138hp tune installed (feels closer to 120hp to me). It’s a helluva difference from the muzzled stock Touring Hinckley is peddling, but it’s still not what my Standard R3 was. I’m gonna try the PC next to see if I can squeeze more grin out of her. I’m not looking to be a pioneer with my cupcake, so anything beyond that will have to wait until it’s been tested on someone else’s mistress.

Don't do Jap ****.
Thanx for your opinion!

Thanx for the understanding, again we meet in the quest for power. It seems like I generated lots of negativity from what are probably talkers that don't understand riders. Guess Triumph has its "bike owners" like HD. If they rode,
they'd understand the need for speed, unless they're gay.
"No replacement for displacement" means power, not size,
and I'm talking power when selecting "87" at the pumps.
Throttle bodies are a consideration, and a good set can be bought on e-bay for less than $300. I'm also afraid the larger throttle body might hurt my big torque. Currently I'm just looking for 1HP/CU, and I may get there with simply 3 Pods, a cold induction bear claw and freeing up the mufflers a little more. Since my valves need shimming, a thought a mild cam would be assurance. Stay Cool!

Regarding throttle bodies, you should check Head's post on the other site. He removed the throttle bodies from both his R3 Standard and his R3T and measured them. Guess what, exactly the same measurements. So, all the speculation about smaller throttle bodies being the cause of the reduced power is wrong.
