I'm looking for a little more cam. Something that won't require other up-grades, but a couple sizes bigger than stock. My RIIIT has been tuned to 133HP and 163LB/FT, and it is ready for the next step. Help me out and I'll buy ya a beer! Thanx

You will need "other mods" - e.g., a Tuneboy tune to change the fuel and ignition.

yeah but won't you over whelm the stock rear tire?

It was detuned for a reason..

I would suggest you need a regular rocket...

Besides your Throttle bodies will only flow so much.. Might require a swich to the regular rocket ones...

one thing I have never understood is why someone buys a Rocket touring and then wants to increase the power past what a normal R3 is at to begin with...or more. Makes no sense whatsoever to me.

I can see some modifications, especially ones that aren't too costly, but one thing leads to another and one expense leads to another as well. Why not start out a couple rungs up to begin with.

Anyrthing is doable with the proper lubrication...money, but the ratio isn't constant, that is, more money don't always mean more power.

Just cams alone aren't going to do much. You need to deliver more fuel and air. That entails a Tuneperson or Power Commander and exhaust to get rid of the spent gasses and different throttlwe bodies...on it goes.

Then, at some point you wind up with a motorcycle that you can never sell because it's so unique and if you could sell it, you'd never realize any compensation for all the lubrication invested because when you sell a bike, acessories, whether ornamental or functional (as in power enhancing), aren't considered to add value to the sale price.

There is nothing wrong with personalization or performance enhancement but a person has to decide if they intend to keep the bike for an eternity before embarking on extensive modifications, because, you, as the owner, will never realize any of that money back when you sell it.

Then, after you spend all that moolah, I can go out and buy a stock Kawasaki Concourse and blow your bike in the weeds in a straight line or around corners and do it in comfort with a very touring capable machine. Of course it's not a Triumph or a Rocket but nothing is relative in the performance arena.

Actually, on an R3T, I would think you will need the larger standard RIII throttle bodies before looking at cams.

And so the R3 world divides into the cruisers and the racers. The cruisers can't understand why anyone would "waste" money making an R3 faster, and the racers find the cruisers boring.

The only place on the internet where there's a list of all available aftermarket R3 cams, with lifts and durations, is R3Power network. I think the drop in cams from Neville Lush racing would work fine with the smaller throttle bodies on the R3T, probably resulting in much better throttle response, but not the top end gains that they give the standard R3. Be aware there is no "drop in" tune for this combo, so the pioneer would need dyno tuning, in addition to the afore mentioned intake and exhaust mods, TuneBoy and/or PC3.

It just depends on how much money you have to piss away. The Rocket just happens to be a cruiser. If you really wanted to go fast, why didn't you just get a ZX-14 and slap a turbo on it?

To me it falls into the"because it's there" catagorie. I find it interesting what the "more horsepower" boys are doing to their Rockets. Why do some take a 250cc bike to Maxton or Bonneville? I've even seen a video of a riding lawnmower at the Salts.LOL Hell, most of us did this sort of thing as kids. Even if your first car was a station wagon, you wanted it to be the best looking and fastest one out there. I even heard of some trying to make Harleys go fast

I said it before and I'll say it again, If you want speed then buy speed, and if you want criusing comfort then buy that. Attempting to mix the two usually results in empty pockets and not very much to show for it.

Besides I think there are a couple of motorcycle mfg out there that already did a fair job of bridging the gap. I believe they call them Sport Touring Bikes
