Cable connection problem

I just got windows 8.1 and was going to it a try pretty soon. I have already used TuneECU on my windows 7 computer numerous times but have a bad feeling about windows 8.1 not working correctly. I'm glad I ran across this thread. lol

I've got a Win81 computer I can try it on. I can't actually drag the computer down to the bike, but I can install TuneECU and drivers, and see if they all talk to each other. Might be fun (well, my definition of fun anyway).

Just tried TuneECU + cable on Win81. Got the software to recognise the cable no problems at all. As I said, I can't get this computer near to the bike to try ECU connectivity. Over to you @mully95.

Well it sounds like you're on the right path. I have toted my PC Tower, monitor, keyboard and mouse to my bike more than once. Finally bought a laptop few years ago and it's been the "tuner" for my bike.

I have an older PC with Window 7 and found that if I reboot with the cable plugged in to the computer and then open TuneECU, the cable activates right away. Yesterday it fired up but this aft it wouldn't until I rebooted with the cable in place. Did nothing else but hook it up and reprogram the map in my bike. Didn't have to pat my head and rub my stomach yet!

Windows 8.1 or above should actually have built-in drivers for the FTDi chip in the cable, so it should (for once) be literally plug and play. For Win 7 or below, you need to download the driver installation software (there's a link on the TuneECU site and everything) and run that, shouldn't be a major thing.

Sing out Dave I have mine running on windows 7 we could try that cable with your computer If you like. Or like croft just said there are drivers on the tune ecu site. PM if you like.

Mines showing up on Tune ECU as connected , did the checks Tom recommended but it still wont run correctly when connected to the bike. Next step is to bring the old laptop from work home and give that a go.

I had a couple of dramas after the last update but once I updated the chip driver it worked no worries if I connected in the correct sequence as per the manual. Mines an older rocket though wrecka not sure if there's difference.

thanks Rough i have a new cable coming so if that don't work you may get a visitor lol

I have a bit of family **** going on at the moment so not in a real hurry for now , i also picked up a laptop with xp i can try as well .
