Good memories guys. Impressive, given your “experience”

First up, spot on. A definite no no. However, I would add that the finish came back a little over time and the rest of the pipes gradually dulled. Guess I’m saying that if someone makes the mistake of doing this it’s not the complete catastrophe it seems at the time.

I’ll see if I can find some later pics to post.

Covering it with a heat shield helped....

Sew a patch of leather or cavalier in that area problem solved.
