Hey all,

Thought this may be a better place to post an issue that I appear to have with my new R3.

Best way that I can describe the problem is that pulling away in 1st gear, as the bike goes through about 2k revs the gear/shaft feels like it's slightly disengaging then re-engaging with a bit of a jolt. It's intermittent though. It's only done 30 miles in total and is now back with dealer. The tech that took it out for a test ride said he'd never experienced anything like that before and it would likely be a call to Triumph. I'm not very mechanically minded I'm afraid but wondered if anyone else has experienced the same on a newish machine.

Cheers,

Paul

Ask for another bike. If there is a problem with your new bike you shouldn't have to wait weeks for it to be fixed. You paid the money you should have a new bike you can ride.

How disappointing for you on your first ride out. Hope it gets sorted soon to your satisfaction.

I say go down the new bike route, push them hard until you get that new bike  stuff waiting, get out on a new one and enjoy the ride like the rest of us do.

Another vote for a new bike, after all now is this, who's not to say that later on could be something else. Better change it before its too late.

I had a similar issue which appeared just after the first (500 mile) service. The bike would be going along fine and then it would seem to jump out of gear for a few seconds and the slip back into gear. At first it was thought that the detent spring was cactus but after that was found to be ok it was discovered that there were (according to the dealer head mechanic) two shims missing from the transmission. In the mean time I was without my bike for 2 months AND they had to split the case...........If I had my time over I would have told them where to shove the defective bike, how far up to shove it AND demanded a brand spanking new replacement!!!!!! Since then though my girl has been an absolute dream :):):):):):):)
