brand new R3 stalls out in traffic - YIKES!

There is a specific coolant for bikes. It's comes ready mixed and your top up with it. Details should be in the manual.

All things aside you have a two year warranty.

I picked up my new R3 on Thursday, and it stalled 5 times in the first 100 miles. The idle speed seems low and lumpy as well. With 300 miles on it now, it hasn't stalled anymore, but when pulling the clutch in to downshift to 1st, the engine oil light will flicker as the RPMs drop.
It's going to the dealer on Tuesday to have them adjust it.

if you need to top up only use Distilled / Demineralised Water as normal tap water will cause corrosion in the Alloy block and water pump housing, I have seen evidence of this, doesn't matter how good the coolant is Never mix with Tap water or it counteracts the Corrosion inhibitors in the Coolant. This applies to All Vehicles not just our bikes

well the coolant level is right where it belongs, so i don't need to add coolant.

maybe just not let her set and idle for a long time?

idk why that would be? i've done that with every car i've ever owned. should be ok with a water cooled bike, no?

The overflow bottle may look full when the engine is hot. Let it go stone cold, and then top off the bottle. If you end up topping it up a little at a time so be it.

if they did not bleed the air out of the cooling system it will overheat again!
You need to level the bike when you do this and it should be cold!

hey Jag, that's great information!

i don't have a shop manual on the bike, i guess i need to find one....

meanwhile, from a zoomed out view, where on the bike is the bleed screw and coolant hose located?
