Boneville Speedmaster

I have two Bonny 1200's, a T-120 and a Bobber. They are as different as night and day. The T-120 is a great all-rounder with plenty of motor. The Bobber isn't as comfortable (yet) but has a torque-laden tune that's immediate with ride-by-wire the T-120 doesn't have. The only way to judge how they differ is by the seat of your own pants. The new Speedmaster does have a pre-load adjustable mono-shock (the Bobber doesn't), so suspension upgrades regardless of age may be in your future as well on either bike. Like Tripps said, go for the newer iteration is a better deal all round.
 
Owned a Triumph Speedmaster 865 EFI 2012. Excellent handling, good dynamics (you can accelerate to 100 km / h in second gear), fantastic appearance, pleasant sound (TOR), economical engine (4.5 liters per 100 km), no vibrations (none at all). TRIUMPH did not mention that the maximum speed is limited to 160 km/h at 4500 RPM, in fifth gear, I struggled with this restriction for four years (there is no speed limit in the map, as in the ROCKET map), and did not win. It is not recommended if you are taller than 190 cm (tight), the wrong angle of the bend of the legs, there is nowhere to move the footrests, the seat is bucket-shaped, it will not work to move away. By purchasing this motorcycle, you can save money on a leg simulator, the shape of the tank (very beautifully) directs all the oncoming air, trying to spread your legs (after a speed of 120 km / h), it remains either to drive slowly (not acceptable), fight the wind (the simulator is not needed), or go with your legs spread (like a lustful *****). I didn't own the Triumph Speedmaster 1200, I can't say anything.
 
Good feedback! Thanks. I like the upgraded fancy seat on the master. There is a model that comes with floorboards. Just gives one the option to change the foot position some. I have gotten used to the pegs bellow rather than forward. Riding the Magna tomorrow to see what the shop will give me for it and see how's the inventory. There are some used 2018 in the 11K zone. We'll see. This thing is probably a blast in the twisties and a joy with cruise control on the slabs.

Very nice. Did you change the handlebars. They look strange on the Speedmaster. How about the windshield. Does it buffet or is the fly screen better?
 
The handlebars were different between the America and Speedmaster (1st gen). America set up for long distance with wide bars swung back in a relaxing stance, the Speedy was set up more forward and aggressive. The stock windshield helped with buffeting but it was still there hitting the top of my helmet. With the flyscreen you got hit in the chest with the air but no buffeting. Adding lowers really helped with buffeting with the larger screen.
 
I like the bars in the America. In the R3 adding lowers improved the bike a lot. Small windshield with lowers was the best set-up for me.
Soo the America and basically the Speedy are the same bike. The America has dual shocks and a different tank and handlebars.

 
Originally the America and Speedmaster had quite a few differences. The Speedmaster had a tacho, twin discs, slash cut exhaust and a more aggressive riding position. Also the guards were smaller with more of a custom look. If my memory is correct, the first America came out with the 790 engine whereas the Speedmaster arrived with the newer 865. Over time they morphed into being closer to each other with both having the same engine, the Speedmaster even dropping back to single disc and more neutral riding position and the America got foot boards instead of pegs. Both bikes went from dual seats to a single double seat around 2010, perhaps a bit later, with the Speedmaster getting more of a gunfighter style. Largely a styling exercise but I always found the Speedmaster more comfortable FOR ME.
