block and header discoloration

hello folks. my 2005 with only 250 miles on it already has dark brown
heat discoloration on the siver/grey portion of the block where the header
pipes are bolted on. the #1 cylinder is darkest, and the #3 cylinder is lightest in color. is this burning/discoloration normal so soon ? and, given the different color tones (#1 cylinder must be running the hottest) is this a sign of over heating or a lean condition ?
 
It is pretty much normal.... I think Miami Dave had a discussion on this in one of these threads.... You will have to search...
 
Yeah, it is normal. I recall the color change very soon after I had the bike. Nothing to worry about. Lots of us cover it up with the Rivco exhaust flange covers.
 
I don't recall commenting on it-but I'll check later. I don't remeber it being on the block though...
