I just got the bike back from the shop last night after the install. I didn't get a lot of time on her as the winter storm was rolling in and temps were already back in the 30's. But what time I got on her was really impressive.

I'm back in the break in period and have to take it relatively gentle but the improvement is obvious. The bike leaps off the line now, Throttle response is way up. The exhaust note is deeper and it has a more obvious lope to it. I can't wait to get back into the warm weather so I can really play with the new ponies. So far though I'm really quite impressed with it.

Just thought I'd pass along my experiences so far.
 
Thanks for info. You must do a review once you get some miles on it. I don't plan to do it myself, but it's cool to live vicariously through others.
 
I must have missed the first post. What and where did you get a big bore kit installed? Details, details. If it was bored, how much? Sounds like you changed cams. What is red line? How much extra HP did you get and how much did it cost and how long did it take to get it done. You know details.

Yeah, sorry mates. He's talking about the Thunderbird. Hey, we don't have a T-Bird forum (yet) so we're making use of the one here. Besides, just because I sold my Rocket, it doesn't mean I don't like hanging out with you gents.

But, since you want details (you still want them right?) here goes.

- Increases displacement to 1700 from 1600cc
- Increases torque to around 120 from 108
- Increases HP to around 105 (if memory serves) from 85

Nowhere near Rocket power, but not bad for a cruiser (best in class).

p.s. The cost is around $900 plus labor. It takes about 8 hours, give or take. The engine has to come out of the bike, thus the reason for the lengthy labor. Probably looking at around $1800 (our dealer) total. Of course, I discovered a much cheaper route to go on the big bore kit. I'm going to buy the 104 CI "derby" cover and call it good. Hey, who's to know?

Congrats Daryl.

Some readers might recall that I had the BB kit installed on mine prior to taking delivery of it, AFTER having had the std (1600cc displacement, EUR3 tune and pipes) bike on loan to me for half a day.

Turned it into "a different animal", to quote a Brit mag. Jamie

Thatch had the kit installed, not me. While I'm sure I'd like it, I won't having it done anytime soon.
