Best Comment from Non-Rocket Owner?

Remember the nickname we gave them K series when they first came out? “The Flying Breeze block”!
For you Colonial’s in the US that would translate as the “ Flying Cinder block”!

Yes.
I think round here we called the K series 'Flying bricks'
Same thing.
My mate's dad had one when they first came out. An RT version, with the big engine.
He always had the old Boxer twins before that. Remember the two tone colour paint jobs, where the two colours were blended together? Pretty cool.
He also had a Sunbeam S8. The one with the engine set up in the same way as the current Triumph Rockets. Gutless but smart looking bikes.

I'd like a K100 RS (16 valve) as a custom project bike. Rock solid engineering and quite easy to customise. I'm on the lookout. God knows when I'll get round to it but I really fancy an old flying brick.

The S7 is the cooler model, same engine except it has 5:00X16” wheels both ends.

If you are interested I’ve a friend who has a couple as projects and I’m sure he’d let one go.

Could be interested come the spring if he's still got it. Too much going on at the moment and my lock-up is rammed. Do you know which K100 he has? Ideally looking for a 16v RS model.

I've never had any issues with Goldwing owners who I ride with. One owner was amazed at the small amount of throttle twist I needed to accelerate. He was actually comparing the amount of twist I give compared to himself as he rode beside me. He commented "That thing is a torque monster"!
Typical comments I hear from people I ride with and passers by:
Is that a six cylinder?
2.3 litre, that's bigger than my car...
Look at the size of that wheel!
That thing is fast...
I'm suprised at how well that thing corners...
Beautiful looking ride...

I do admit when we pull into a parking lot with other rides, the Rocket ends up drawing most of the attention. Recently my chum pulled up beside me with a new chrome Royal Enfield Interceptor 650. That's something we don't see here and I gladly took 2nd fiddle... LoL.

My father went from a Kawasaki Z1 to a Honda Goldwing in 1978. He commented that he liked the bike, but that it felt like it had a rubber band for a throttle cable.
