Haven't posted in a while, just peek in every now and then. I miss the Rocket a lot but the Gold Wing has thus far been a good bike. It just lacks the personality (and power) of the Roc. I pick up this 2012 Tenere in about two weeks and will check out all the county (gravel) roads I've been missing. Hope all is well with all you Rocket buds that I made over the four years that I had mine.
Real nice, 1200 cc, abs, shaft drive, and spoke wheels that accept tubeless tires. Looks like it will be competing with the the BMW 1200GS, but much cheaper at 14k. Congrats! I could easily see one of those in my garage.
Nice Tenere, how is the performance on it. It is a good looking bike. I have been lusting for a dual sport again. Being a tall guy there are few bikes that work for me.
I miss my old GS. It was a blast chasing down sport bikes up in the mountains on. The lean angle on the dual sports is what I miss the most as compared to the rocket.
It's performance is quite nice. It's fairly quick, but when your going 60 you feel like your going 45mph. I guess because it's so tall. Never had a dual sport before and I'm looking forward to getting it dirty. I got this one for 12,700 +ttl. I'm in the middle of a job change and a move so I just put a down payment on it till I start my new job. I'm 6'1" and I can't get flat footed when stopped unless I sit at the front of the seat. Not sure it the seat is in the high or low setting.
Nice bike , all the reports i've read said good thingg about them. In the past i've had a BMW 1100 and 1150 GS and i do miss fanging on dirt roads . Been looking at maybe a 955 Tiger or one of the new 800s. Took a BMW 800 for a demo last weekend but it didn't really do it for me. Whatever i decide on Catherine is adamant the Rocket is not to be sold Gota love'em.
Good to hear from you!.. Looks like another fun bike...
I still gotta get mine to a dealer. I can't get it running right and I don't have time to troubleshoot it anymore. I have several posts on here about it, but basically it runs like crap.. could be timing chain jumping, could be ECU.. I don't know and I don't have time to find out.
Same with the Trophy.. I have it going, but gotta get the carbs sorted out.
Nice bike, snuffy. Have not been out your way recently, but hoping for a ride with some friends to the Coffee Cup if this infernal heat ever breaks. We trudge on.
