great call
i can not see in there but when i push on the outer housing the noise changes pitch so something has happen in there.
because of the heat in Tucson i have two wires coming out to work the fan in case of emergency so it was easy to check.

Just putting this out there, i could make you a custom fan shroud and fan assembly. Here is the one i built for my ninja, my truck and my skylark project.
Id do it for $100 plus materials plus shipping. can knock it out in a day or 2 BTW those perma cool fans are like 2300 CFM, Im going to do this to my rocket when i get the carpenter kit and the tranny from robertsons.
