I know some of you out there are fly boys, thought this was worth sharing. I'm sure some of this footage has never been seen before. I come from a long line of jet pilots in my family. Unfortuately i hate hights the Rocket is the closest thing i'll ever get to flying...

I got drunk with an old Aussie that flew Spitfires in England during the war at the casino in Hobart years ago. He was a great bloke and fascinating to listen to. Must have been terrifying and exhilarating at the same time doing what they did. There was a prison officer that joined our conversation for a while , he was seriously drunk. Got him to get Chopper Reid's autograph for my eldest daughter. She thought Chopper was hilarious after reading one of his books I had. Ying and Yang I guess , Chopper Reid the scummy crim and that proud old Aussie serviceman.

Good stuff my brother, I love these old timers and what they have done for all of us!

Thanks for the share...........

I would really like fly a Spitfire. Then again, I would love to fly a Corsair and Mustang too

Too bad they did not salvage more of those old warbirds.

I remember being at the British consulate in Malaysia about 15 years ago. There was an old boy with a walking stick I got talking to while waiting for a new passport, turned out he flew Hurricanes during the war.
Very nice gentleman, he left before me and fell down a set of steps, just out side. Poor old fella, he was Ok thankfully. Worst part was that before he fell I thought to myself that I should go help him down them. Still bugs the **** out of me that I didn't for whatever reason.
Theres a moral there I guess.

When I had my antique shop I cleaned out four huge old sheds at Kingaroy. Sheds had been left virtually untouched since just after WWII. Heaps of old American cars/parts and workshop machinery etc. Three old cast iron fuel pumps , was like a time capsule .Took four body trucks loads of gear away and left more than I took. Bloke that owned all the stuff told me there was a crated unused Spitfire engine but he wanted to hang onto that. I've thought about that engine and what it would have been worth... oh well.

That was awesome!! Just imagine how the gentleman felt seeing himself in the video. Seeing the surprise and joy made my day.

I go to Duxford once a year..love those old Warbirds have a soft spot for the Corsair and Hurricane..god bless all those who flew these old beasts
