I was checking out the Rocket III group on facebook and this guy posted a picture of his rocket with these crazy truck/ATV light fixtures attached to the radiator shroud

I thought that was really a cool idea. Those LEDS are Cree bulbs, and they are bright as hell, surely likely to light up the front of your bike like day time. The lights he said he used were these http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IXDHYQO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

He claimed he used a relay to get these lights hooked up... I found a generic harness online but they all come with a POWERED on/off switch, which is stupid... I dont want a switch to have an LED on it that drains my battery... I want a harness that is just like the one pictured on the right side of this image but would need to figure out how to wire a switch into that harness that doesn't need its own power source. Can anyone chime in?

I'd be wary of mounting them to the rad shrouds. For a start, if you drop the bike you're going to damage a lot more than the lights, but also the vibration could lead to damage at the mounting points.

Another idea would be to mount to the highway bars with a clamp.. just getting ideas. Besides, ive already dropped my bike and the highway bars work well at protecting the rad. The lights are cheap, like 30 bucks or so... no big loss.

for that kind of money you can install the late daymakers.

any thing more than a 10 degree LED Spot will not give you any distance there are many multi led 20 degree spots that will only go as far as the headlights, unfortunately you do get what you pay for the lights in Steve's link look the goods as they have a 6 degree version but here in Auss they would be outrageously expensive still cost me $300 AUD for the pair, as for the other question when you wire up thru a relay setup just replace the lighted switch with a non illuminated one that is what I run

image.jpg Mine are located on the highway bar, I've since moved them a little lower since I took this picture, Cree lights and put out 6600 lumens.

I'm 90% to the point of pulling the trigger on a set of stainless steel Clearwater Darlas, planning to clamp them to the engine bars. Far sturdier than mounting to the radiator and better protected. 2000 lumens each (and many dollars each).

Want CHEAP and BRIGHT - One Day I might try these http://www.ebay.es/itm/30W-CREE-U2-...6?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_186&hash=item233effd47a

I'm working on other things right now - But I'd be tempted before blowing 100's of bucks.

Another way ? - OK http://www.ebay.es/itm/30W-CREE-U2-...6?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_186&hash=item233effd47a 5000lumens is OPTIMISTIC. But the CREE XM-L2 chip is currently about as efficient as it gets. This particular light would require some resistors or driver to run off 12V - but you get the idea.

Some more options http://www.lightmalls.com/motorcycle-lights-1?dir=asc&limit=all&order=price

- Lightmalls are not the cheapest but so far I've been treated well by them.
