Auxiliary fuel tank

A small leak proof gas can stored lower on the bike in a saddlebag could be poored in if the main tank gets too low. A cheap and simple option.

I was just about to chime in and say I saw an auxiliary tank on a Western Australian Rocket on a Black Dog Ride to the Centre an couple of years ago .... was it you I was talking too at Coober Pedi? It was mounted on the rack - behind seat with an Aux pump to top up the tank under pressure when needed. Impressive bit of work ....
since then I've "Double Crossed" Australia (South - North then West - East in one ride) and carried a 6Ltr jerry can, one fell off before Darwin so I bought another then it fell off through the Kimberly but it dragged against my back tyre, hanging by an Oki strap. It eventually wore through and sprayed petrol behind the bike. At the time I was running a single "dumper" pipe and it was the time of the year when they burn all the stuff off beside the road. The guys behind me said it was spectacular .... huge fire balls following me ... they weren't game to catch me to warn me about the fire in case I exploded and killed them .... I wish someone had of filmed it. Only one small scorch mark on the rear guard - badge of honour.
Since then, I don't carry extra fuel. Before a long ride I make strip maps with fuel stops carefully plotted. I check with Google Earth and sometimes double check petrol stations/roadhouses with a phone call.
But I did like the Aux tank that I once saw on a WA Rocket up the centre.

This one holds 35lt so the range can be 800km on a good day in 110 speed zones and as low as 600km in the territory.
A little over kill but peace of mind when doing 24hr rides i.e. Newman to mount magnet 617km no fuel after 21:00hrs.
It also allows for donating 5lt to other unfortunate riders along the way.
 

When I go on long trips I take a long a 1gallon Rotopax fuel cell. I purchased it when I owned my Triumph explorer as I didn’t find the fuel capacity that great for a bike that was designed to go off road where there are no fuel stations. Long story short I kept the system and adapted it to go on the Rocket. The metal bracket I purchased was what I used on the back of the explorer as I travel with soft luggage. You can see it mounted in the photo.
The beauty of this system is that it is expandable to suit your needs.

I have bought through AliExpress a few times and they are ALWAYS cheaper than eBay and appear to have as good or better customer service and guarantee of refunds for non-delivery or faults etc. Only thing is they do not take Paypal but only credit card which is used by AliExpress itself not the actual supplier works like an Amazon USA sale so your not dealing direct with the supplier.

YEP that looks great I think every bike should have one and you can put a PORTA POTTY under the seat and you can drive all day and never have to stop FANTASTIC DESIGN WOW HOW COOOOL
