okay so I've made it to Childress and I thought I was much closer to Fort Worth than I am.
still chilly but it's not really bothering me however I do run my hands under hot water when I come into a gas station.
glad I'm not really under any time pressure.
it's it's 5:30 a.m. next time I stop for gas it'll be daylight
Well James, it is a shame you missed seeing God's Country by riding through the Panhandle of Texas in the dark. I grew up in Gray County, Pampa, TX to be specific. If you turned south from Dumas to hit I-40 in Amarillo, you missed it. But it's not too late to turn around now that the sun is coming up...
wow well I finally made it to Wichita Falls.
it's a lot farther than you think from Amarillo to Fort Worth.
seems like I'll never get there.
okay forget chilly I think it's cold out now. It's 7:30 in the morning I can't figure out why the sun isn't out.
shouldn't shouldn't it be out by now.
so so I'm inside warming up for a little while letting my feet sit on the warm concrete guzzling an ice-cold Yoo-hoo.

Cool.
but I but I was thinking of that old TV commercial where the guy is sitting in the chair in a job interview calling the company dumbass and dumbass and says it like 50 times and at the end of it all the boss guy says it's pronounced Dumas.

Sounds like your sense of time is getting affected by fatigue and cold. Of course the return trip is always a bit less exciting than the anticipation of the outbound trip, which also affects sense of distance and time.
Yes, the sun should be up by 7:30, depending on the time zone, but we did also “Spring forward” last night with the Daylight Savings starting. Anyway, hope you are enjoying it and please be safe.
