Just looked at the Triumph/UK site where they have listed the Roadster and given details and specs on it along with planned accessories.

I was very surprised to learn that for 2010 the Rocket offerings are the Roadster or the R3T no more standard Rocket or Classic.

So you either get the new "Go for the Gusto" Rocket III Roadster or the R3T. I was kind of disappointed in that.

First off the R3T now comes in either the all black, dark blue/light blue, or the black and cream color (like RocketDaryl's).

The Roadster comes in either the matt black or the phathom black.

Where did all the fast colors go??? The Roadster was kind of decent but, to me, the color offerings aren't that great unless you like "slow" black. I was thinking of the R3T but now that they will not be offering the black/red combo I am a little "underwhelmed" by the choices.

I hope they change their minds...but I may have to look for a new '09 black/red combo model...hopefully they may be available.

I'm so depressed.

That's what they have painters for... I'm not suprised that they dropped the Standard since the Roadster is the same bike with a few touches, but I kind of surprised that they dropped the Classic since it kind of sat in the middle of the Standard and the Touring..

Eglin Federal Credit Union had a red and black R3T (presumably a repo). There was also one on Craigslist. Not sure about EFCU bike, but the one on CL was $10,500. I *think* both are 08s.

Re: Roadster

I'm surprised they didn't lose the 240 rear tire in favor of a smaller size 180-200 range. That overgrown, honking tire is half the reason the Standard and Classic handles like a log wagon. I rode the one in Pensacola before they sold it and I was blown away at much better the R3T handles in comparison. Of course, the Rocket isn't marketed for it's handling. It's marketed as a power cruiser/street fighter. The fat rear rubber is fine for that, I guess.

besides, now that they're not gonna make em anymore,
it'll be a collectors item..
 
Xhdskip, don't think that I haven't thrown that idea around as well. Mine is definitely fast enough for how I ride (I mean how many black Rockets do I have to pass to make that point???)....(just kidding guys...it sounded good anyway), and I have it the way I want, if I ever develope any of the "major" problems that has visited a few of our members I'm pretty confident that Triumph will step up to the plate.

It's just that being over here, getting a new bike is kind of a reward for all that I have had to do without. That is why I was focusing on the R3T but, all due respect to you Daryl, I usually buy someting new if it is different that what I am currently riding (just a phobia of mine I guess). I don't mind looking at a new '08 or '09 out of the box R3T but now I'm kind of wondering what Honda is going to do (or not do....I'll find out soon enough) to the Gold Wing.

At least I have plenty of time and as TXRIIIRider says I can always get it painted to what I want.

I'm with you Dennis. Of course, I have a different reason. I'm an elitist and wouldn't dream of parking my perfectly sculpted buttocks on a machine that some peasant owned before me.

Yeah, I saw that on the Gold Wing board. It is supposed to be coming out soon but it's a smaller engine (obviously than the Rocket) and the muffler looks like they haven't settled on a version yet and the one I saw looks funky (and not in a good way).

Hi dennis....All the things that attracted me to the standard rocket.. the riding position,the three tail pipes and of course the chrome are no longer present on the roadster. I also think the standard fills it's role as cruiser pretty well. It would be interesting to know the ratio of bikes sold... ie how many standards to classics and tourers. I guess we will have to wait and see how the roadster rides.
But i can't help thinking that there's more to come. Time will tell.
