When i fitted mine the rack and sissy bar are triumph ones the box and plate are Givi .the only part i had made was a couple of spacers which fit into the holes the sissy bar would normally go into .these have two threaded holes which the origin bolts fit in. see photo.(it was taken before i fitted them )
hope it helps
I used exactly the same setup as slidderhd. To wire up the box I used a 4 prong trailer wire extension and cut the "harness" to produce a flat quick connect so it slips down behind the luggage rack bracket and still allows me to utilize the easy on/off luggage rack feature.
I painted the area below the chrome strip to match the bikes black/white paint scheme so it really looks more like a factory item. I failed to find a suitable used box on the internet so I bought mine new but at $140.00 it was worth it.
By the way, the company does offer a deeper, slightly rounded backrest for $49.
I bought one but it looks like garbage so I left the skinny one on until I make a replacement myself. (Must get that done someday.)
Thank you all for your hints, tips, photos and suggestions. It will help me making my R3 into a fully dressed touring machine! Nice to have a forum like this.
I used a HD tour pack off a recked 2002 Electra glide. Picked it up at the local HD dealer and had it repaired at body shop. Just use your luggage rack with the sissybar removed to mount. A 10in x10in x1/4 aluminium plate on top of the luggage rack makes a nice platform for the trunk.
That is a great idea you had of using an aluminum plate. Thanks for your post. Your harley trunk looks factory on the triumph. Your paint shop did a great job.
