So I picked up my Rocket 3 GT last week and am very, very happy with it but honestly, that horn is embarrassing, it belongs on a 125! The standard horn on my KTM 390 is better.
So, it needs to go, the problem is, what to replace it with and, more importantly, where to mount it? Other posts have mentioned the "Stebel Nautilus compact mini" but those were mounted on the 2.3l Rocket, places to put things on those are going to be different, naturally.
So, any suggestions? Either what to buy, where to put it or, preferably, both. Have you resolved this?
Hello, I bought DSM and installed following youtube video. But after work I found out that attached metal sheet is too short and horn is not located very good. Also electric cables are really accurate to original horn and for new are short. Therefore I created new holder. Material is inox, thick...
I bought a car horn ($20) and bent the little holder bar enough that it tucks in behind the rad. Much improved. You have to zoom into the photo to even see it.
Works fine in the rain, no need for any other fuses, etc.. Just wired it up, tucked it back, and HONK!!
Just in front of the first manifold port. Barely see it but you can hear it!!
Just make sure the bell horn is pointed down (somewhat) to keep it from filling up with water. Good to go!

Be very wary about current draw when playing with modern electrickery. High current where none was intended in the design can end up very expensive. Wiring is very light, most operations are triggered by a "delicate" E.C.U.

I will be cautious Rizzle. Right now I’m looking for a suitable horn. Once I have, one, plus an alarm, I’m getting an auto electrician friend to wire them in.
