Have you actually tried these yet?
i.e. do they not only light the respective array when leaned accordingly, but also actually direct it to the side of the road to illuminate the edge?

They actually show two different lamp types in those images within the same listing
1 has two low beam modules and 4 adaptive modules per array on each side
the other shows 5 low-beam modules and 5 adaptive modules per array

If you compare the listed specs (for whatever they're worth  ) the light output (listed) is higher in this one - US $99.74 25% OFF|5.75 LED Adaptive Motorcycle DOT E9 Headlight For Harley Davidson Sportster 1200 XL1200L Custom XL1200C 883 XL883 Chrome Black on Aliexpress.com | Alibaba Group

which shows images of the 2 & 4 type arrays

It's hard to know what to buy 'blind' and don't think any of the listed specs are worth a **** - personal review/references probably count for more here

This one shows video that shows the tilt sensors actually controlling the arrays

- But I'm more curious about where it throws that light ........

No they have not arrived yet. Shipped by the seller on 2019.04.23 20:15. Cheap free shipping is slow. ;):D

You can pay for express UPS type service but I'm cheap!

Pretty sure it is these coming - wrong and as corrected by barabagris the larger 5 LED each side is the larger 7" light.
The 5.75" have the 4 LED per side .version

5 Hi-beam modules and 5 adaptive modules per array but only 3 Low beam
The middle 3 of 5 in centre row are Low beam which operate alone if upright or with either side adaptives if banked turning a corner. The outer 2 in centre row are Hi beam with the 3 circular ones below.

100% with you there.

tbh I have become rather jaded regarding "copies" generally - as most I have seen are only aesthetic copies. The innards can and do vary hugely. Recently did some side by side work with a neighbour - two "identical" lamps for his BMW. Bright? - well they looked it. But we measured the current draw and one set was 60% less current. tbh neither was much use - so he sent them both back. Sadly I did not have a light meter - soon to be rectified.

I'd rather (naturally) spend less and get what I want. But after spending time and money researching, paying and waiting, then testing: sadly I have hit the conclusion that there is too much uncertainty.

And for the life of me I cannot think of a way to empirically bench test "Adaptives". It is not just a tilt sensor - I know because I built my own adaptive setup using a really accurate tilt sensor. You need accelerometers as well. Tilt sensors can (surprisingly) be triggered by things other than tilt.

I do not ride often at night. So when I do, I want it to work. And I mean really work. My eyes are not getting any younger.

The JWS adaptives I have fitted are the Gen1 (low beam tilt only). These outclass the plain old JWS 8630 by a significant margin even without tipping etc. The Daymaker family (made by Speaker) are somewhere in between.

Can they be bettered? - Yes!. But I am sure that to do so - it will be necessary to use proper beam setters to fit/mount correctly. There would be no high/low beam. There would just be light where it needs to be. But as a group - motorcyclists know better than the combined efforts of R&D teams so "We dont need no stinking beam setters".

7" has 5 - the 5.75 has 4 - it's a real estate issue.
