I'm real fond of the new 2010 R3 Roadster, and was perusing Triumph's official site, checking out the specs. Well, I happened to notice that Triumph lists the wet weight of the 2009 R3 as 704 lbs. and the 2009 R3 Touring's wet weight is 788 lbs.

THEN Truimph's official site lists the wet weight of the 2010 R3 Roadster as....807 lbs!!!! THEN it lists the wet weight of the 2010 R3 Touring as.....869 lbs!!!

See for yourself: Triumph Motorcycles - Rocket III Roadster

WTF!?!?! Has to be a mistake, right? What the hell would make the 2010's weigh 100lbs more than 2009's? If somehow true, it sure negates that extra power in the Roadster!

Those in the know, please....enlighten us! (and the Roadster too, by 100 lbs. or more please!)

I'd say it's only relative if you are stopped or going reallly slow and the angle of the dangle exceeds 25 degrees. At that point, any weight becomes a PITA and an embarassment.

Well, 100 lbs. of extra weight would sure hurt acceleration. But the bigger question is...could the R3 Roadster really have gained 100 lbs. of weight? And the R3T too? Why? It's got to be a website mistake.

Word has it that they have added the very first flux capacitor to be used on a production motorcycle.:D Prepare to beam up!

Either that, or they added a waaay high-tech ABS unit that unfortunately weighs 100 lbs. - just a bit more than BMW's S1000RR system (4 lbs.).

It probably wasn't terribly accurate since the scale was made for trucks, but mine weighed in at just over 1000lbs with me, bike, bags and windscreen. Since I'm about 205 that makes the bike 800. I always thought the thing felt heavier than what the book advertised for a 2008 R3, so I don't put much stock in what the factory said it weighed. Gas is what ... 7lbs a gallon? Thats over 40lbs right there.

It's probably a misprint
In shop service manual
Standard R3 dry weight is 704#
803# Wet weight with all fluids oil/ anti freeze etc
Classic & tourer weights would be add - on's
