The early model Rockets (2004-10) had the headlight power routed thru the ignition switch barrel.  The 55 watt draw of the headlamps overheated the solder joints in the barrel and desoldered them.  To get around this design flaw Eastern Beaver offered a relay kit for the headlights that directly powered the lights from the battery and retained the handlebar dip switch to toggle the brights.  I installed that on my '05 Rocket and never had an issue with desoldering.  You can either remove and resolder all the barrel joints or replace the whole unit, as is you are risking a failure on the road.
