Hi, I'need to remove and split the cases because the bolt from the gear selector rods has fallen. Can you please let me know what triumph special tools are needed for the operation? Many thanks
Ain't it a ***** to have to go through so much work, for ONE STUPID BOLT !!!!!! I have a 05 engine sitting on the floor, with the same problem. There are threads with all the info, just search. Yes you do need at leas one special tool, a puller for the alternator thingee. Good luck, keep us posted as to your progress.
BTW, are you ABSOLUTELY SURE that the problem is the bolt??? If the symptom is that it is stuck in gear then it is probably the detent spring. This is a relatively easy fix and worth checking before you start removing the bike off the engine. Ask me how I know. The instructions for the Detent Spring repair are also in my signature link.
Here's what it does when the bolt falls out. I've been thinking of possibly cutting a square opening in the top of the crank case, just above where that bolt is, to see if it can be replaced that way. Then make a square plate to bolt over the opening, when done. Of course there would be some cleaning up of aluminum shavings, etc, etc. BUT would be a whole lot easier. Just thinkin out loud

Pulled my engine over a decade ago. I went to the flee market and bought several sockets and filed them to create a castle nut removal tool. The most difficult part for me was pulling the frame off the engine then flipping it to break the case. Hense my avitar.
