1st issue with my 2024 Rocket 3

Rode to an event the other day and happened to notice it was a little wet around the engine block on the clutch side so I wiped it down and rode a little more and sure enough it was leaking. Took it to the local dealership and they said it’s a bad gear sensor and put one on order. The good thing is that it’s all cover by warranty but the bad is that it will take 7-10 days for the part to come in. Hopefully it’s just a one off cause things do happen but at the moment I just have around 6K on the bike having bought it earlier this year. Overall it’s been running like a champ and is my primary commuter so I definitely don’t baby it.

After dealing with Ducati problems … this is the least of your worries. Minor issue I would not worry about it. I have owned 2 Rockets a 2020 and a 2023 and they have been rock solid.

I doubt it's the actual gear sensor. There is an issue with the o-rings around the sensor. They will replace those along with the sensor and it should stop the leak, but was it the sensor or the o-rings? If you don't want to wait to ride you can easily (10 minute job) replace the o-rings IF you can find the correct part. I just got 100 of them and can send you some, but don't know where you're located (it's not in your profile). If you're in the states and interested, shoot me a message.

I’m sure you’re right at that would make much more sense. I really appreciate the offer as that’s awesome of you but it’s more of an inconvenience rather than an hardship as I can ride my other bike in the interim. I mainly just wanted to post this as I didn’t know if it was a common issue or not and maybe something for other riders to be aware of and watch for on the newer models.

I've had no problems with the sensor O ring but the sump drain plugs leaked on mine. I suspect that was negligence on the part of the dealer I bought it from though. It was bought used from a dealer and they supposedly serviced it before sending it out. I doubt they bothered to change the copper washers, and probably not the oil filter either. They probably just dumped the oil and refilled it so it looked clean. My local dealer who performed the scheduled annual service a couple of months later looked into the oil usage and traced it to the drain plugs. They said the washers should be replaced at every change.
These little weeps are an annoyance but minor compared with the problems you can get on other more complex bikes. Maybe if your's has a history of gear sensor weeping, change the O rings at service time as a matter of course.

My drain plug washers are aluminum I think, not copper. Could that be an issue for someone with leaking sum plugs?

I guess it could be if you're reusing them. I have a bunch of the aluminum ones, but tend to just keep using the same ones over again without issue. I sometimes will lightly sand them though.
You probably know about annealing copper washers, but for anyone who might not...

I have this issue as well, the dealer replaced the O-rings and it still leaks. It is going back for them to diagnose again, I suspect they will put in a new sensor. Could be the current sensor housing is off a little?
