09 R3T Trunk option

Finally back from the paint shop. It would have been nice if Triumph offered a trunk and fairing option but with a little work you can make aftermarket parts work. The trunk(tour pack) was off a recked HD.The fairing is from Reckless Motorcycles.com. I mounted it to the stock quick change mount for the backrest. Nice to be able to remove when not needed.

How did you fit the trunk? pictures? what model HD is it from?

I made a bracket to bolt to the quick change mounts for the backrest. I will take some mount pics when I can. I found an easy way to mount by using a aluminium plate 12in by 12in x 1/4 bolted to the stock luggage rack also makes a nice mount for a tour pack. My tour pack was from a 2002 Electra Glide. I have more fairing pics in my members photo album.

Here's a pic of the trunk mount I used. I used thin rubber between the aluminium and the luggage rack to prevent damage to the chrome.

Yes the bags open fine. They are about 1/2 at the closest point.

I put an HD trunk on my red and black 08 R111T and then when I traded it in on a 2011 blue R 111T I had it painted and move it to the new bike. I used the same idea of using the existing rack to bolt it to and all together I have put over 20k miles on it with the big boss on the back with no problems.
