I was wondering if launch contro could be achieved by restricting 1st gear? Launching is hairy for sure, almost lost it last week at track being way to aggressive off the line, just way to much torque.

I could only manage 3.25 - 3.3 when the bike was around 5000km old...having to shift at 80 with the stock rev limit was cost the 0.3. I haven't had a data logging set up for a couple of years but would be interesting to see if I've improved any.
It was quasi launch control at best using secondary throttle blades to limit air flow, I tried it out a few times, was pretty lack luster. To do it right the system needs an IMU, which the new bike has. IMU data paired with gear, wheel speed, RPM and Throttle Position / Control let's the bike use maximum power on any road surface by adjusting the throttle blade position.
It's a revolutionary leap comparatively between the two.
Having fun is the important thing! Not stalling on the line helps with times, and fun. I would say good times could be applied to both, but nobody likes dad jokes.
