Question for those who installed Carbon Parts

These days I use SiO2 to protect everything and have a garage. Back in the day I had CF on a Ducati that sat in the sun and it pitted and turned frosty whitish on the surface.

    Torx bolt size, backrest cover

Yes, the lower cover is a T-45. (The upper cover is a 3mm allen, in case you also need that).

    Metzler Cruisetec vs. Avon Cobras

The approved tire selector guide on Triumph's website lists only the Cruisetecs, which supports what others said about the Chromes going away. https://triumphtechnicalinformation.com/tyres

    Issues with 2020 model?

The front antenna is used for long-range communication, so knowing its location isn't critical to a regular user. The rear antenna is for short-range communication, so you have to know where it is to get the key close enough. (For those without the saddlebag mounts, there's two pips under the...

I am an idiot.. A no start story

For future reference: The pattern of blinks indicates the error. A single long flash indicates a key communication fault. Even if the smart key is turned off or has a dead battery, it'll still work as a passive key if positioned correctly under the tail. The correct location, if you have the...

    The oil leak got me.

Oof, looks like it's coming from the oil tank cover.

    The oil leak got me.

Unless you have some different issue, the leak the rest of us have had may seem to come from the crankcase, but actually just comes from the gear position sensor and costs a few dollars in parts and under an hour in actual labor.

    ENGINE STALLING

Agree this is the most likely cause. Every time I've seen a friend's bike "stall" (lose power) on the highway with no codes, it's been a loose battery connection. If not that, then second most likely cause is bad gas as mentioned earlier.

    GPS wire routing

ISO4165:2001 (DIN/BMW/Hella/Merit/Powerlet) plugs are a poor design. I've found that the "center clips" in the outlet need to be bent inward toward each other, and it also helps to bend the circumferential contacts on your plug outward, in order to get firm contact. Of course, make sure you...

What do you think about the riding modes? Do you find them useful?

On the Rocket I find them of limited utility. I basically alternate between Sport for nearly everything and Rain for snow, ice, and rain. On the Tiger, where ride modes also include a wide range of suspension damping, and offroad is a serious consideration, they're much more useful.

    Speedometer fix?

16777215 is just the decimal representation of hexadecimal #FFFFFF or 24 binary bits all set to "1". Given several other fields also seem to default to all binary ones, it's probably just some default used when the value can't (or shouldn't?) be accessed.

How long before a tune to the Storm will be available?

Models with a second downstream O2 sensor are likely easy to defeat with a simulator.

Rear brake recall someone did it 14mm brake cylinder replacement?

Exactly. The primary effects of the change (all else assumed to be equal): Input travel is decreased ~20% for a given output travel ("firmer feel"). Output pressure is decreased ~20% for a given input force (weaker braking).

Rear brake recall someone did it 14mm brake cylinder replacement?

    Sure, but it's a 21.5% increase in cross-sectional area.

    Oil level

Could be several variables including the amount of time they sat, shape of the chamber, exact angle of lean, etc.

    Oil level

Just did a change this past weekend. I checked the level cold and it was about 25mm above the max mark (that's cold without doing the "start-and-run-then-wait-then-check" procedure). I know that with the proper procedure it was halfway between the low and high marks--something like 50mm...

To me it feels the same as every other large displacement motorcycle transmission.

Gas cap won't open at all

Have you tried back-bleeding both master cylinders before bleeding the front master cylinder, the calipers, and then the final bleed procedure? If there's air in the ABS modulator, that's what's needed.
