My first experience with the high idle problem and TuneECU...

Thanks for the tips... I stupidly bought both TPS units thinking the secondary might be bad because I was reading the voltage wrong with TuneECU. So I could put the secondary up for sale, or just put the new one on.

My first experience with the high idle problem and TuneECU...

Do you think I should replace the secondary TPS anyway, while things are apart? The primary will be going in soon. At this point I have the gas tank off (a different problem - fuel level sensor) and the intake plenum off. Do I need to remove the throttle bodies to replace either of the TPS pots...

My first experience with the high idle problem and TuneECU...

That's the part of the secondary check I don't get. After running the 2nd Throttle test in TuneECU, the secondaries are not fully closed. If I try to push on them the stepper motor fights back to stop the close. However, if I just turn on the ignition without running the test they appear to be...

My first experience with the high idle problem and TuneECU...

That's the direction I am going. Just got notice today that the new TPS has shipped. I will also look at a cleaning of the stepper motor and put it back together to check it out after it quits snowing... Thanks!

I have a mostly stock 2006 R3. The only significant change is the CAT box removed with tune flashed at dealer. The bike has been very under-used since 2013, mostly just for 2-Up with my wife. The last time riding was last fall and it began to show the dreaded high idle symptoms. The bike starts...

Debatable for sure... But, hey phar2slo, about that RAM air intake system you have: Does heavy rain cause a problem? Doesn't seem like that location under the side cover is very water proof... CLB

wjb, you should be working in the Dayton marketing department... LOL. But you are right many inventions originated here (add the cash register and the pop-top). Also if anyone is going on I-75 or I-70, and you like aviation stuff, you should stop by and check out the US Air Force Museum.

Hi Bigprop, I figured I should post the questions in a more appropriate thread. Not sure which one.

    Hello from Dayton Ohio

That is my suspicion. I have ordered both primary & secondary TPS. I have some confusion about the voltage readings from TuneEcu.

Thanks wjb. I've been here for 40 years now, and the sprawl continues. But a lot of new stuff going on in downtown revitalization.
