  1. Another Crash Bar Question? (GT with QS)

Ok, so I ordered some crash bars from Big A (shipped from China). They looked good and decent build quality. Right one fit nicely, but the left side was a total no-go. The Lower bracket was a solid interference with the forward controls and specifically the shift linkage. I can't imagine...
  2. GT Brake Lever Height?

Where do you disconnect the cable? Seems to run off into nowhere.
  3. GT Brake Lever Height?

I think I may have partially solved it. My foot controls were all the way back. I moved them forward and that gave my foot just a little more room to flex. Of course that opened another can of worms, since I have shift assist, adjusting the shift lever was a PITA. Why did they design it so...
  4. Custom Bags

Durability of anything custom is always a big question. I tend to overbuild. You can put most of your weight on top of each bag and there's no perceptible deflection. I'll probably never put 1/10th that load in them. "Cantilever" is the key word here, but if you look at the actual structure...
  5. Custom Bags

I cut holes in the factory plastic. It's identical to the Triumph part with the holes. I didn't do drawings. Just started cutting and welding. The mount is very "3d". The individual arms are not flat, and are joined on each side. Also, it isn't just a mirror image left to right, due to the...
  6. GT Brake Lever Height?

I've already adjusted mine to the limit. Still well above toe level. I've got a ton of sports injuries to my ankles, so maybe I'm just weird, but I don't have this problem on any of my other bikes.
  7. Custom Bags

No problem to the swing arm. Plate holder only has tinny clearance at full travel, but working on a tail tidy to remove the dumb fashion statement of a plate holder completely. The bottom of the left bag is actually a quarter inch out from the right bag for that reason.
  8. New 2.5L owner, things I hate about the motorcycle.

I haven't yet, but in past bikes, I've always had a USB in the bags. Has come in handy many times. Usually when the passenger forgets to charge her phone. Now that I have hard bags, may relocate to one of the bags, but personally, I'm glad it's there. Would be more useful if the cubby was...
  9. Custom Bags

Just sharing my attempt at bags (panniers). For a lot of reasons, I hate the triumph bags. I have a decent shop, including a TIG welder, so this might not be a solution for everyone. Appearance is subjective, so even though I love how these turned out, you might hate them. My objectives...
  10. GT Brake Lever Height?

Before I take everything apart, I thought I'd see if anyone has dealt with this. I find the brake lever is too high (even with the adjuster fully in). I have to rest my foot beside the lever to keep from riding the rear brake. Has anyone dealt with this? I thought about grinding the adjuster...
  11. Corbin Fleetliner Saddlebags

Other than cost, my biggest problem with Corbin bags on all bikes (looked at a set for my Hayabusa years ago), is that they are VERY wide. To be stylish, they're wider than they would need to be for the give capacity. I lane split a LOT here in California. Not the best bike to begin with for...
  12. New 2.5L owner, things I hate about the motorcycle.

Yep, 49% of the reason I've owned so many bikes is that I ENJOY personalizing them. Spent all weekend welding up custom hard bag mounts to get around the ugly/small/fragile factory bags and fitting a windscreen. Next weekend will be a quick release top box with better passenger...
  13. Ideas for crash sliders

I've spent a lot of time looking at the bike, but haven't come up with anything good. would love to hear ideas
  14. Shift Light

Any update on how well this works? Loving this bike, but it's the lowest redline bike I've ever owned and there is no power drop off before redline so I pretty much hit the limiter on every WOT accel.
  15. Rocket 3 GT Exhaust Mod from Meerkat!!!!

Has anyone tried cutting the top or bottom off the stock box and removing the cat substrate, but leaving the plumbing in place? I've done similar with other bikes and I've noticed the empty chamber can give the modified exhaust a deeper note. Also, I think the reason a lot of people feel they...
  16. Vinyl Wrap?

Just thought I'd give an update. Although it's not a tough wrap, the raised pin stripes under the clear coat very blatantly show through even the thickest wrap (7.5mil). After doing a trial with both matte and gloss wraps, I decided I would not get the results I wanted. At some point I'll...
  17. Issues with 2020 model?

Thanks! I'm not happy that all of these bikes have a buggy keyless system, but I decided to live with it. I'm not sure what was wrong with a key for a motorcycle??? I'll research the fuses. The rear tire is a bit flat, but I decided I'd abuse it for a few miles before having a new one put on.
  18. Issues with 2020 model?

I pick up my new to me GT this week. I wasn't really looking for a first year model, but this one came up close to home, with low miles (5000) and like new condition. As I OVER think the process, I realize I went from looking at 2023s to a 2020, which is the first year. Rear master has been...
  19. Want to Buy Stock Exhaust

Thanks, let me know if you decide you like the slip-ons.
  20. Vinyl Wrap?

Thanks. Glad to hear the corners are doable without removing the tank. Cars are tough because of the big panels. Motorcycles are tough because of the complex shapes. Two different skill sets. ANY TANK is tough to do in one piece. Only reason I'd attempt the Rocket tank is it can be done in...
