    Turning over

Okay, here's what I know. Several days ago my 2010 rocket touring started slipping a bit. Didn't seem a major at the time, but now when I turn on the ignition with the gearbox in neutral the dash light will not show the bike as being in the neutral position. As a result or a side issue the bike...

    Fuel system air leaks

Hello again. Right, to bring resident rocket scientists up to date on the outcome of my 'Stuck in first' episode. It was indeed a dislodged selector shaft bolt that was the cause of this very time consuming fault. 30 odd hours to dismantle the bike to the point of lifting what was left off the...

    Stuck in first.

UPDATE . . . . . Well, as diagnosed, the source of the problem was indeed the selector bolt. I'm only glad it happened when it did, and not at a far greater rate of knots. The whole procedure took longer than I'd hoped, but have no one else to blame for that other than myself. Maybe 25hrs to...

    Stuck in first.

Thanks TC. Now, do you think it would be best to contact Triumph NZ before starting the disassembling, or wait until 100% sure that the displaced bolt is the cause of the breakdown? I can see no other obvious possible causes.

    Stuck in first.

Maybe I wasn't clear in my description of the problem. Imagine the toe part of the gear shifter as the hand of a clock at the 9 o'clock position. In normal operation it would rise to no more than the 10 o'clock position then return after engaging the next gear. Well at the moment it raises all...

    Stuck in first.

From what I'm reading in the manual, there's no shortcuts to remedy this particular problem. The motor and frame must be separated (along with everything else around it) in order to get to a point where the engine cases can be split, in order to replace a bolt that should never have come loose...

    Stuck in first.

Mmmm . . . . . I fear you maybe right. No easy fix for that one is there! Thanks for your input.

    Stuck in first.

I've never had an issue with starting with either the stand down, or in gear with the stand up. So long as the clutch is disengaged. I think the problem lies with the internal selector bolt coming adrift.

Yep Phil. Linkages are fine. Seems the problem may lie with the selector bolt having fallen out.

    Stuck in first.

The saga continues. Earlier this evening whilst out on a errand, something happened that has me thinking the worst. The transmission of my 2010 Rocket Tourer has become stuck in first gear, and the shifter has become free in it's movement to almost 180 degrees. Obviously some breakdown in the...

    Clutch troubles

You never fail to astound me with your knowledge of the Rocket 3 in all its forms. Hard won and Im sure it didn't come cheap. So my next question is, when moving away from stock Triumph parts, which brand would you recommend to replace them with. I'm looking for hard wearing and reliable. Price...

At the risk of sounding foolish, what is your recommended method of checking for freeplay in the cable?

    Clutch troubles

Over the weekend I let a 'friend' take my rocket for a spin. On his return, he tried to do a burnout in the driveway. (Unsuccessfully). Since this failed attempt, the clutch has been slipping badly when given any more than 'normal' acceleration. No horrid noises associated breakage of any sort...
