Triumphs, but no Rocket just now.
Yesterday my fuel light came on and stayed on when I switched off. Also the tacho stuck('09 RIII) on 4K rpm. I needed fuel so filled up but the light stayed on, even with the key removed, and the tacho was still stuck in the vertical position.

Disconnected and reconnected the battery, which fixed the fuel light but the tacho was still stuck. 4 hours later it seemed to have fixed itself but this morning, half way to work, tacho needle suddenly jumped to 8K (and I assure you I was anywhere near there) and is still stuck there. Also noticed indicator warning light and neutral light not working.

Any ideas on why this is happening and should I be worried or just annoyed?

Hi

This is not an intermitant problem it will keep happening, it is the loom or closer still the connector to the ignition switch.
look closely at the wires into the connector block one of them will be arcing and sutty.

Clean and solder:D

Check the CanBus connections between the ECU and gauges. Clean them with contact cleaner and an eraser (cut eraser to size as required), and seal with dielectrec grease.

If this does not fix the issues, you may have a short/corrosion in the gauge unit(s).

Been off line form a shoprt while but thanks for these suggestions. I've had a fiddle and it's fixed it twice but not for long. Going in for a service soon so I'll have the dealer look at it and fix it under warranty. I don't use the tacho much anyway but I just hate it when things like this happen and I'm reminded of it every time I start the bike. Grrrr. Really appreciate the response. Thanks.
