Rostra Electronic Cruise Control Installation

Well here it is, I hope this document helps a lot of Captains out there.
This installation has been going on for a while now, I dont really like the throttle hook up too much as it could fail one day (We will see).
Feel free to critique the attached PDF as this may very well help others to do better.

Excellent find on solving the VSS issue. There are several Captains including myself that have been waiting for a viable solution other than the magnets.

I've seen some other throttle linkage approaches that may be more suitable or reliable. I'm not keen on the open loop end not secured firmly.

You're the man!!!
I worked on this for a while to no success so I placed it on hold as I was not wanting to take the back wheel off at this time(riding season and all that) and have been stripping the paint off of my El Camino and generally doing a full on restoration of it. I am going to order the VSS signal booster you recommend and take some time to complete this project. Thanks again for your diligence and hard work.

By the way OZ Captains, I have a spare VSS unit (Cos i bought two)
So if you are interested i will do this at cost (I will even post it to you included)

Also I wish to sell the Magnet set up (Brackets and complete Magnet set) Cost me $65 make me an offer - Remember this is only good for the Roadster.

The Brass bracket and controll switch will also be for sale (Soon) as i am going to convert to a MCCruise switch (Cost me $95) the swiches are not exactly compatable but i think it can work ok.

Mitzy,,Is this the same Rostra cruise control that you have?
Just want to make sure I have the correct part #

I've been searching for them today to no avail. One that I ran across used the pin that is in between the two cable ends but the picture wasn't that detailed.

After thinking more about your setup, it seems unlikely that the hoop would ever slide up the return cable so I retract my comment. I will probably do the same.

Ordered my kit and VSS thingy today.

Yep Sure Is.
I painted the yellow plastic plug on the unit black so it wouldnt be seen through the gap in the side cover
